Weekly Progress #10

What's New

The big news is that everyone's favorite masked psychopaths are back. They can be found in forested areas, or you can play as them yourself. They are weaker than Atlanteans, but reproduce quicker. Their culture has an emphasis on foraging and raiding over settling.

Maskling Species Traits
 - Weak - -20% to Attack and Expel interactions

 - Rapid Breeders - +20% population growth rate

Maskling Culture Traits
- Tribal - Cannot turn tribes into settlements. +20% outputs from Foraging jobs

 - Raiders - Can perform raiding interaction on other pops, to gain luxuries and wealth

- Warrior Culture - Does nothing currently, but will provide better troops when Expeditions are added.

Other Stuff

The rivers and swamps of the world are now also home to herds of Hippos. Be careful, even though they're herbivores, they are incredibly tough and aggressive.

Swamps can also now have flocks of cranes for hunting, and deer have been added to the forests.

What's Next?

We're coming close to the end of Milestone 1, with only a few features left to add. The biggest of which is buildings.

Buildings are a special feature of Urban Center (and Port) developments, each of which can have a single building constructed within them. These buildings will be the major benefit behind forming settlements, as they'll provide unique advantages you can't get anywhere else. Buildings will include temples, barracks, palaces, smithies, and other specialized workshops.

Milestone 2

Milestone 2 is where I think the game will really start feeling fun. It's going to feature the addition of Characters (much like in Bronze Age 3), bonuses, and the return of the Shontu as a new Atlantean starting culture.

I'm a bit surprised the Masklings showed up before the Shontu. That said, I'm glad to see progress.

The Masklings always have. In terms of the overall history of Bronze Age, the Shontu are actually fairly new, only showing up in 3.0.

I didn't realize that -- but then again, I'm also fairly new (I only showed up shortly after Bronze Age reached 3.0).

The Naqada, though, I've talked about them on the discord since... maybe from 2.0 days. They've yet to actually make it into the game.
Soon(tm)

I think they're a myth.
